Welcome to the family: CEU alumni team welcomes new grads

June 29, 2017

Last week CEU added more than 700 new alumni to its global family. Your alumni team – with help from alumni like you – was there to welcome them.

As part of a busy graduation week, on Wednesday June 21 and Thursday June 22, the alumni team hosted its first-ever Alumni Info table, in Nador 15.

There, graduating students, many clad in commencement gowns, were given information on benefits and services awaiting them, and how to connect with the wider community after they leave campus this summer.

To help them prepare for post-CEU life, graduates were also offered miniature scrolls containing ‘words of wisdom’ written dozens of alumni around the world. (Big thanks to all alumni who contributed their valuable insights.)

Graduates were also introduced to the philanthropic spirit of the community, with dozens of students raising contributing nearly $400 to this year’s Graduating Class Gift campaign. Others tested their knowledge via a quiz of the university’s alumni program and walked away with cool prizes, like branded items and coffee.

At Friday’s commencement ceremony, during which 708 students received their degrees, Alumni Speaker Uchenna Emeloyne (LEGS ’04) advised graduates on the value of ‘attitude’ as a means of real-world success. (See video of his speech.)

The ceremony also included remarks by student speaker Constanze Jeitler (HIST ’17, Austria), a former CEU Alumni Scholarship Recipient.

Congratulations to all of this year’s graduates – welcome to the family! – and thanks to the alumni community for welcoming them.
