Brenda is studying at CEU this year thanks to the supporters of the Alumni Scholarship, next|generation

In her own words:

I graduated from Uganda Christian University, Mukono, with a Bachelor of Laws Degree with Honours.

My time there, coupled with my personal experiences of armed conflict, swayed me from the traditional practice of law, thus setting me on a path working on issues at the intersection of law, peace-building and human rights—providing an avenue for me to create positive change in the lives of the most vulnerable in our societies especially women, children and other at-risk persons.

Post-graduation, I worked to advance human rights, particularly advocacy with state institutions and departments to ensure the state fulfils its human rights obligations, particularly regarding victims of the Northern Uganda conflict.

This experience, coupled with my involvement in a community-based adult literacy project, has given me a platform to serve the community and gain hands-on expertise in the field.

My time at CEU will allow me to share my experiences with fellow students and provide the opportunity to advance as a specialist in the field of human rights, and allow me to continue creating positive change for the communities I serve.

I thank CEU’s alumni donors for their generous contributions to my scholarship.
